Shannonbridge Fishing Report 24th July 2007.

The river level on Monday evening 23rd July at Shannonbridge was 3.0 metres.

Anglers were scarce on the ground but seven arrived at the weekend that will

hopefully catch some fish. Noticed that the August Motor Boats monthly magazine

has a feature article on ‘Cruising the Shannon’ covering Portumna to

Carrick-on-Shannon.

- Michael O’Neill Junior, from Shankill, Dublin fished from a cruiser on 17th July

in Athlone harbour with worms on a windy day and caught 17 lbs of fish in two

hours. Three roach were all over 1.5 lbs each and he also had bream, hybrid and

perch.

- Steiner Klaus caught a small pike 1.2 kg. while using a blinker when fishing from

his cruiser on 15th July at Carrick-on-Shannon.

- Eamon Phelan from Dansha, Tipperary fished Shannonbridge on a cloudy 18th July

and caught one 5 lbs pike while using a spinner. The fish was returned alive.

- Young Shane O’Rourke from Correen recorded two catches. Using pole and worm

Shane caught 15 perch to 13 oz on the first day. Next day he caught 53 perch to 1 lb

using the pole and worms.

- Chantell Smith from Leicester fished in sunshine at Shannonbridge on 23rd July and

used maggot / caster to catch 10 lbs of roach and hybrids. Could have been better was

her comment and it was her first time fishing.

- Chris Compton, Leicester fished alongside Chantell and used caster / maggot to

catch 12.5 lbs.

- Chris Taylor from Manchester fished at Shannonbridge on a fine 23rd July and caught

his first pike using a rubber lure. It weighed 8 to 10 lbs and chewed up the lure. Magic

was his remark.

- Andy Dalton from Manchester also caught a 5 lbs pike while fishing at Shannonbridge

on 23rd July.
