Buíochas
Christmas is one of the times of the year we acknowledge the goodness and generosity of our Parishioners. Just to say a sincere word of thanks for the kindness, support and encouragement throughout the year. We are blessed to have such an extraordinary number of people who are actively involved in the life of the Parish above and beyond the call of duty. Our thanks to all who help in a special way with the Sunday Liturgy, Readers, Choir, Altar Servers, Eucharistic ministers. To all who take responsibility in caring for our churches. Opening/closing, cleaning, decorating and upkeep.  We acknowledge the work of the Pastoral Council; Basket Collectors, Counters. We are conscious of the contribution our Teachers make in handing on the Faith. There are so many we do not see but are always there. So many people who voluntarily help in making our Parish such an alive and welcoming community. Míle Buíochas. Tom Cox (Adm.)

                  Christmas Message 2016
Christmas is a time when we gather with family and friends.  Family is about connection; we are connected in varying ways to our immediate and wider families.  Some of our family members are in far flung corners of the globe; although far away they are close to our hearts.  Christmas is also a time when we recall the story of God’s close connection with us, his Son born of Mary in Bethlehem and grew up in a family.  The gospel of midnight Mass has this reassuring passage “Do not be afraid, listen I bring you news of great joy, a joy to be shared by the whole people. Today in the town of David a saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord”.  The connection between us and God is very close, he shared our human life and our family life; he wants each one of us to share his life now and in eternity. Christmas reassures us that God is close to all and especially those who are in need of hope. The news of Jesus is good news, it is news that brings joy and peace to all.  We had the good news a few weeks ago that Pope Francis hopes to attend the World Meeting of Families in August 2018.  It is an event that highlights the importance of family life.  I wish you and your family and your friends a Christmas that is joyful and peaceful because of the birth of Jesus, God among us.

VOCATIONS NOTE When Joseph awoke he did as the angel of the Lord directed him.” Are you prayerfully vigilant about discovering yo ur vocation in Christ? Might He be inviting you to the priesthood?  Contact Fr. Simon Cadam 086 2401295

LIVE THE WORD For this festive period value what brings real meaning to Christmas. Spending and giving your time to others is a gift in itself. Pausing to reflect on the year that has been, brings stillness and inner reflection. Practising gratitude focuses on how much we have in our lives. Laughter, good cheer and the exchange of conversation is the flow of life. What you value, your energy will flow to

SEQUIN BY SEQUIN
The message offered to us in today’s Gospel is one of hope and healing.
“The blind see again  The lame walk
The leapers are cleansed  The deaf hear
The dead are raised to life  The Good News  is proclaimed”
What was broken is mended. Advent gives us this opportunity to let go of anything that dulls the spirit and brings us to a new year with the promise of joy and gladness. A tweet found some time ago from Lady Gaga known for her self-empowering messages, fashion and performances, might help us to regain and strengthen our spiritual balance during Advent. She tweeted that she intends to change the world ‘sequin by sequin’.
We can be amused by this or it can challenge us! … How’s that for a life’s purpose? How do I intend to change the world? And if so what would I tweet?
I intend to change the world…
Kindness by kindness
Justice by justice
Healing by healing
Forgiveness by forgiveness

Safeguarding Message from Bishop Francis, 2016 Advent is a time of preparation for Christmas; it has a special atmosphere of expectation and of looking forward to the events of Bethlehem.  During this season many children will participate in nativity plays, carol services and liturgies.   I hope they have a very happy and joyful time with their families and friends.
I thank our Parish Safeguarding Representatives and our Priests for their very important work in ensuring the safety of children and vulnerable adults in our Church related activities.  Their vigilance gives reassurance to all.
I encourage anyone with concerns regarding the safety of children or anyone who suffered in the past to contact our Designated Persons: Sean Leydon (087-7431649) or Róisín O’Doherty (087-3327587).
