 Meaning of Life . . . . . . . . . . . . . Hans Urs von Balthasar, WORD & SPIRIT, #4
“There is one moment in life that towers above all others and summons us, heart and soul, to urgent prayer. The moment when, after a more or less carefree youth, a person fully realizes for the first time the grave choice before him or her: what meaning, what content, what direction do I want my life as a whole to have? I can choose or refuse my mission, my vocation. Fancy or caprice cannot be allowed to dictate the decision; it must be made only on reference to my first beginning and my final goal. I must implore God’s light. Show me Lord, what the meaning of my life should be."

  Christian One-liners
“Many folks want to serve God, but only as advisers.

It is easier to preach ten sermons than it is to live one.

The good Lord didn't create anything without a purpose,
But mosquitoes come close.

People are funny; they want the front of the bus,
Middle of the road, and back of the church.

Opportunity may knock once,
But temptation bangs on the front door forever.”

"Gratitude can best be defined and understood as the only possible response to a gift, to something recognized as utterly, freely given. Gratitude is the vision – the way of seeing – that recognizes ‘gift.’   Our culture seems on the verge of losing the meaning of the experience of gratitude, in part because we have lost all sense of ‘gift.’"       (Ernest Kurtz)

Why did Christianity arise, and why did it take the shape it did?          The early Christians themselves reply: We exist because of Jesus' resurrection. … There is no evidence for a form of early Christianity in which the resurrection was not a central belief.

Questions people ask                                           (Fr O’Flynn – Intercom)
Q. In what way was the raising of Jesus different from the raising of Lazarus or the widow’s son at Nain?
A.
It’s the difference between resuscitation and Resurrection. Lazarus was resuscitated, meaning that he was brought back into the same level of life and he had to die again at a later date. Resurrection is not coming back into former life but going forward into a new and greater life. An entirely new level of life was revealed in the Resurrection of Jesus. As St Paul wrote, all our believing is based on the Resurrection of Jesus.
¨¨¨¨
Here is the amazing thing about Easter; the Resurrection Sunday for Christians is this, that Christ in the dying moments on the cross gives us the greatest illustration of forgiveness possible.                                                If you learn how to forgive others for not being strong, then people can learn how to forgive you for your own issues.”        T. D. Jakes
