The Shannonbridge Active Retirement Group meets on a Tuesday morning after Mass. At present they are planning various outings and events for the year. There is a three night stay being planned for the Galway Bay Hotel from 12th March to 15th March. All members plus others are invited to join the break. Telephone 090-9674169 for more information or come to their meeting on a Tuesday morning after Mass in the Health Center.

Today somebody was enquiring about the Scottish musical duo Frater & Gunn. Some minutes later the telephone rang and Jimmy Gunn was ringing to tell us that Watty Frater had died on January 23rd. Watty had broken his second leg around Christmas time and had died aged 98 years. Some 500 people attended his funeral and Jimmy reckons that most of them were musicians. Their dog Doughall is still alive aged twelve years. Jimmy and Doughall are planning to visit Ireland in a few months time.

The funeral of Eoghan Turley, son of Mick and Eileen, Athlone and Garrymore, will take place after Mass at 12.00 Wednesday to Clonmacnois cemetery.

May they rest in peace.

Congratulations to Sinead Ryan and her family on the birth of a baby girl on Saturday morning. Sinead lives between Sligo and Boyle and is a daughter of Declan and Rose Ryan.
