Today Jack and Helen Killeen from Sale, Victoria, Australia stopped by to visit Killeens of Shannonbridge. Jack’s mother was a Gargan, and he married Helen Bermingham.

When Jack showed me his business card and it read Bridge Solutions Australia I thought that this was a useful one to know. It turned out that he is in the bridge building business.

Jack told us that when the Killeens first settled in Australia they chose a place called Boisdale near Maffra in Victoria. Some of them are still in that area.

Mick gave them a present of one of Louise Killeen’s CD’s and Jack said that his cousin Tracey Killeen is a singer in Brisbane and writes her own songs.

There were showers around but the hell with it we went to have a look at the bridge at Shannonbridge and the old swing bridge. They have swing bridges in Australia also.

Then we made a quick visit to Clonmacnois for a look around and to see the video.

It was too wet to walk to the site of Saint Killeen’s Church as the video in English was about to start.

We talked about Killeen Castle and they were determined to find it. So off they went East.

We look forward to meeting his sister when she comes to visit Ireland later this year.
