Shannonbridge bowed out of the Senior Football Championship last Sunday when they suffered a 6 point defeat at the hands of Tullamore on a scoreline of 1-10 to 0-7. Sbridge needed to stay within 4 points of the opposition to secure a place in the knockout stages on goal difference. The omens were not good at half time, when, after playing with the breeze, we turned over three points in arrears at 1-5 to 0-5. Sbridge were forced to line out without the injured John Ryan; he was replaced by Paul Moloney. Team: Declan Kelly, Willie Keena, Niall Price, Mel Darcy, Kieran Flannery, Ciaran Kearns, Paul Moloney, John Egan, Jason Kelly, Paul Deeley, Anthony Kelly, Dermot Turley, Karol Kelly, David Corbett, Shane Flannery. Subs: John Ryan and Philip Egan. One important outcome of the group series is that Shannonbridge have retained their Senior status for next year, with Ferbane going into the relegation battle with St. Rynaghs and Edenderry.

GAA.
In their last outing our Seniors were very unlucky to lose to Rhode by the narrowest of margins (0-12 to 1-8) after a very determined performance. Team: Declan Kelly, Willie Keena, Niall Price, Mel Darcy, Kieran Flannery, Kieran Kearns, Dermot Turley, John Ryan, John Egan, Paul Deeley, Jason Kelly, Philip Egan, Shane Flannery, David Corbett, Karol Kelly. Subs used were Paul Moloney and Roger Ryan.
Its all to play for now with the last group game against county champions Tullamore in Tubber next Sunday at 2pm.
Shannonbridge Juniors are unfortunately out of the championhip despite a very creditable draw against Ballycommon, at the away venue, in their last outing. Having won 2, drawn 1 and lost 1 of their group games they were just edged out on scoring difference, with Clonmore Harps and Ballycommon going through.
Dont forget the Shannonbridge GAA Golf Classic in Ballinasloe on Saturday 30th August. Booking with Jim Killeen or Vinnie Costello..

Questions people ask (Fr O'Flynn- Intercom)
Q. I like to go to Knock every year, but my son insists that these apparitions are imaginary. How can I answer him?'
A. The best test of an alleged apparition is what Jesus said: 'By their fruits you will know them.' Here are three tests:
Is the teaching in accord with Scripture & sound faith?
Does it strengthen & improve the moral life of people?
Is there evidence here of God's healing power?
Knock passes on all three criteria. In the apparition there is a deep silent contemplation of the sacrifice of Jesus, Lamb of God, in the company of Mary, St Joseph & St John
