GAA

Shannonbridge bowed out of the Senior Football Championship last Sunday when they suffered a 6 point defeat at the hands of Tullamore on a scoreline of 1-10 to 0-7. Sbridge needed to stay within 4 points of the opposition to secure a place in the knockout stages on goal difference. The omens were not good at half time, when, after playing with the breeze, we turned over three points in arrears at 1-5 to 0-5. Sbridge were forced to line out without the injured John Ryan; he was replaced by Paul Moloney. Team: Declan Kelly, Willie Keena, Niall Price, Mel Darcy, Kieran Flannery, Ciaran Kearns, Paul Moloney, John Egan, Jason Kelly, Paul Deeley, Anthony Kelly, Dermot Turley, Karol Kelly, David Corbett, Shane Flannery. Subs: John Ryan and Philip Egan. One important outcome of the group series is that Shannonbridge have retained their Senior status for next year, with Ferbane going into the relegation battle with St. Rynaghs and Edenderry.
