Intermediate Football Championship.
Shannonbridge
played well to secure their second win of the championship with victory over
Rhode, at Killurin, on Sunday. Playing
with a slight wind advantage, Shannonbridge led by four points before Rhode
opened their account in the eighteenth minute.
They added two more points to leave the halftime score at 0-4 to 0-3 and
took the lead in the forty third minute 0-6 to 0-7. The two match winning moments were a goal by
Philip Egan, who drove the rebound to the net after the keeper had made a good
save from his first shot and a penalty save from Donal Corbett with five
minutes to go as Rhode, three points adrift, stormed forward in search of the
equaliser. Final score 1-8 to 0-8.
