Reminders form the Bishop

 A National Eucharistic Congress (NEC) will be held in Knock on Saturday 26^th and Sunday 27^th September 2015.  The theme is ‘Christ our Hope’.  The NEC is a follow on from the International Eucharistic Congress of 2012 and is also a preparation for the next congress to be held in Cebu, The Philippines, in January 2016.  The website for the Cebu International Eucharistic Congress is:  http://iec2016.ph/  

The Clonmacnois Deanery will hold a Day of Prayer and Reflection in the Sheraton Hotel, Athlone on 6^th August, to mark the Year for Consecrated Life.  A Diocesan Event to mark the conclusion of the Year for Consecrated Life will take place on Saturday 30^th January in the Pastoral Centre and St Mel’s Cathedral.  

The Clonmacnois Pattern Day on Sunday 13^th September will commemorate 1400^th anniversary of the death of St Columbanus.

For young people aged 16-35, an opportunity not to be missed to experience the Catholic faith & meet many new friends.   This Festival has been nicknamed the ‘Holy oxygen’, with over 1000 young people from all corners of Ireland attending last year.  The festival is by donation only.  Free busses available from around the country.  For more info call 01-6753690,   or see www.youth2000.ie
