ADVENT WITH OUR YOUNG
The 3rd & final instalment of our Advent prayer times in Shannonbridge Church is on Monday, 17th Dec at the (slightly) earlier time of 7pm. Children are welcome to bring their family crib figure(s) (make sure they’re tagged!) with them as we gather around the Crib. There will be an opportunity for Confessions later at 8p.m. All are welcome.
Offertory Envelopes 2019 These days the Parish envelopes are being distributed by some of our parishioners. I thank them. I am grateful for your unfailing generosity and support for our Parish and for myself. Our very parish name is borne by the Diocese and the generosity of Pobal Ciarán “Ciaran’s People” is known. I want to thank all our loyal collectors at all our Masses. A special thank you to the counting teams who count the money each week and have been doing so for many years without fail. . Thank you to one and all . Fr. Tom

THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT
This is ‘Gaudete’ Sunday, a Latin word that means ‘rejoice’. We light the pink candle on the advent wreath to remind us that, while this is a season of quiet reflection it is also a time of joy. The Lord is near, and this good news gives purpose and meaning to our journey. We are going somewhere. Joy is the
echo of God’s life within us. It is the most certain sign of the presence of God. John the Baptist tells us today that this joy is nourished most powerfully, when we reach out generously in the service of others: ‘If anyone has two tunics he must share with the man who has none’. Those who are happiest are those who do most for their brothers and sisters. We rise by lifting others. The key to joy, then, is service. Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud this Christmas.
