  CEMETERY SUNDAY - THANKS
to all who helped with the organising of the prayers in Clonmacnois Cemetery, PPC members,,Collectors, sacristans, rosary leaders, for all who helped with off road parking (Pat Dillon/Tom Moore) by providing fields and those who stewarded, Johnny Duffy for helping with amplification, Gussy Claffey our cemetery caretaker, the OPW for facilitating us again with the use of this place for our prayer. To the Rural Social Scheme or RSS as we call it participants (John Price/Pat Anderson and Kathleen Norton/John Murphy who coordinates) who do so much to keep the cemetery in top order. This year we had 3 small clean up gatherings with 3 trailers brought away of refuse, discarded plastic pots, Christmas wreaths and so forth. This cemetery is unique in that something like 150,000 people visit Clonmacnois annually and many walk through the Cemetery on the Pilgrim Road to and from the Nuns Church. I commend the efforts of everybody who have their plots so well tended and to the “neighbourly eye” many of you cast on graves of those who may not have any relative to tend to them. We also encourage everybody to bring home all waste from the cemetery whenever you visit – dumping is offensive to the living and disrespectful to the dead
 19th SUNDAY OF THE YEAR
Life for so many of us is full of loose ends. There are things undone, things half done, things put off and things not attempted. No one should ever lightly leave undone a task that should have been finished before night falls. The Gospel today appeals to us not to be caught unawares. The Master could knock on our door at any moment. We are but stewards of what He has given us, not owners. Everything we have is on loan from Him, and at the end we will be required to account for our stewardship, whether we have been watchful or wasteful. The best preparation for the future, then, is a well-lived present. Consequently, death will find us at peace with Him, with our world and with ourselves. When the fateful moment arrives it will be ‘graduation day’ not ‘examination day’. ‘The one who lives life fully is prepared to die at any time’. (Mark Twain)
