PARISH MASS FOR DECEASED: Our Annual Mass for all who have died in our parish over the past year will take place Friday November 29th at 7 p.m. in Shannonbridge Church. All welcome.
‘This is the king of the Jews’
The feast of ‘Christ the King’ was instituted by Pope Pius XI in 1925 to counteract the secularism and atheism that were widespread in the years after World War One. The Holy Father’s intention was clear. He was calling on his flock to stand firm and keep Christ at the centre of their lives. The feast is celebrated, fittingly, as we bid farewell to one Church year, and stand on the threshold of another, because we believe that ‘all time belongs to Him and all seasons’. He is a king with a difference, born in a lowly stable, brought-up in an obscure village, laid to rest in a borrowed grave, whose chariot was a humble donkey, whose throne was a cross, whose crown was made of thorns. As the king is, so should His subjects be. To follow Him means to serve and not to be served; to give and not to count the cost; to be gentle and humble of heart.

Hymns
Praise My Soul The King Of Heaven
To his feet thy tribute bring;/ Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven,/ Who like me his praise should sing? Praise the everlasting King!
2) Praise him for his grace and favour To our fathers in distress;/Praise him still the same for ever,/ Slow to chide and swift to bless:/ Praise him! Praise him!/ Glorious in his faithfulness!
This Is My Will, My one command,/ That love should dwell/ Among you all. This is My will that you should love -As I have shown that I love you.
1) No greater love a man can have Than that he die to save his friends You are My friends if you obey What I command that you should do.
Hail Redeemer, King Divine. Priest and Lamb, the throne is thine; King, whose reign shall never cease, Prince of everlasting peace.
Angels, saints and nations sing:
Praise be Jesus Christ our King;
Lord of life, earth, sky and sea,
King of love on Calvary.
Eucharistic King, what love
Draws thee daily from above;
Clad in signs of bread and wine,
Feed us, lead us, keep us thine.
