THIRTY FIRST SUNDAY OF THE YEAR
‘The Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost’ Zacchaeus appears just once in the New Testament, and his story is brief. A Tax Collector, small in stature, viewed by his peers as a traitor, a collaborator, a thief, wealthy, but not happy. The scene is Jericho, the oldest city in the world. Driven by curiosity he climbs a tree to catch a glimpse of Jesus, about whom he has heard so much. By going out on a limb he catches the attention of the Son of God as he passes by. Then, a look of love, acceptance and mercy turns a flawed life into something beautiful. Once we encounter Jesus we are never the same. The Zacchaeus story reminds us once again that the potential for greatness lives within each of us, and even more encouragingly, as British Victorian author, George Eliot once proclaimed: ‘It’s never too late to be who you might have been’.

Resting in Peace
November is the month of letting go. We let go of the light. The leaves gently let go of the trees. This month we remember all of our Parish Family, who this past year have made the ultimate sacrifice to let go of a loved one, back into the arms of God’s loving embrace. This month we pray for all those gone before us. We have a special place in our prayer this month for all of you who have been bereaved this last year. Your tears speak of a pain greater than words. November invites us to rest awhile. It invites us to remember and rebuild our shattered lives. God’s hands are the gentle hands of time, bringing comfort and healing to all wounded hearts. Grief takes time, it takes tears. Talking to a kind listener can help you to grieve the loss and the pain. It’s important to grieve in your own way and in your own time. Rest assured that our November prayer is with you these dark November days and nights. Know that your loved one is safe and well, at peace and at home close to God and closer to you than you can ever imagine.
Rosary will take place in Clonmacnois Cemetery on Sunday 10th  November after 10:30Mass (11:30a.m.).
