No one knows what he can do until he tries (Publilius Syrus)  I have just three things to teach: simplicity, patience, compassion. These three are your greatest treasures. (Lao Tzu) The road to success is always under construction. (Lily Tomlin) Love is the flower you’ve got to let grow (John Lennon) Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right (Henry Ford)

 Hymns

God of Mercy and Compassion
God of mercy and compassion/ Look with pity upon me./ Father, let me call thee Father,/ For I now return to Thee. / Jesus, Lord, I asked for mercy; / Let me not implore in vain. / All my sins, I now reject them, Never will I sin again.
To do Your will
To do your will, is my desire/ To live in You, Lord is my life / To spread Your love to all the earth / To find in You, the joy of life /All of my days, I sing Your praise /Through all my nights, You are my light You will shine forth, to all my years
And joyously will bring me home
LENTEN THOUGHT Pope Francis invites us to look at Lent differently and as well as giving up the sweets, chocolates and biscuits, which is good in itself we could also
Fast from the hurtful word ….Be thoughtful
Fast from the long face …… Be joyful
Fast from complaining …… Be thankful
Fast from bitterness …… Be forgiving
Fast from too many words …. Be a listener
Fast from hoarding ….. Be generous
Fast from panic ….. Be calm
Fast from fear ………. Be brave
Fast from noise ……...Be quiet
Fast from rushing …….. Be still
Fast from anxiety ……. Be trusting
Fast from anger …….. Be peaceful
In a world where you can be anything “BE KIND”
Daily Lenten Prayer
Today Lord, I choose life, I choose your love and the challenge to live it and share it,
I choose hope, even in moments of darkness,
I choose faith, accepting you as Lord and God, I choose to let go of some part of my burdens, day by day handing them over to you, I choose to take hold of your strength and power ever more deeply in my life.
May this truly be for me a time of new life, of change, challenge and growth.
May I come to Easter with a heart open to dying with you and rising to your new life, day by day.

 FIRST SUNDAY OF LENT
The curtain rises again on the Lenten drama that takes us from the bleakness of the desert to the bleakness of Golgotha, a drama that deals with the clashing themes of light and darkness, good and evil, death and life. We are drawn into the opening scene today as Jesus, prepares for the trials and tribulations ahead. As He enters the solitude of the Wilderness, He beckons us in, so that, together we may encounter the Father, and grow stronger through the testing. May the season ahead enable us to bring peace to our past, purpose to our present and hope to our future. ‘Lent comes providentially to reawaken us, to shake us from our lethargy’ (Pope Francis). ‘Lent is like a long retreat during which we can turn back into ourselves and listen to the voice of God’ (Pope Benedict).
FAIRTRADE FORTNIGHT Many farmers and workers in developing countries struggle to provide for their families. Poor market access and unfair trade often means that the price they get for their crops does not cover the cost of production. Fairtrade labelling guarantees a better deal for farmers and workers in the developing world. WE can all help by buying products which have the Fairtrade logo– tea, coffee, chocolate, cocoa, bananas etc.
LENTEN PLEDGE  & PIONEER (PTAA) ENROLMENT of new members will be taking place shortly. Applications can be made by contacting anybody on the Pioneer Council. We would encourage membership from children receiving Confirmation this year, or from anybody who would like to take the short term pledge for Lent. Details from 087 2950005
