Act of Spiritual Communion “My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You have already come , and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen”

PENTECOST “CEREMONY OF LIGHT” Bishop Francis will lead a “Virtual” Ceremony of Light in St Mel’s Cathedral on the Vigil of Pentecost Sunday – Saturday 30th May 2020 at 7 p.m. A very warm welcome to all the Candidates who are awaiting Confirmation. MESSAGE FROM TRÓCAIRE Every year Trócaire asks for your help during Lent to fund lifesaving programmes around the world. This year, of course, it was not possible to return Trócaire boxes through schools or parishes in the usual way. This is the worst possible timing coming just as the world’s poorest people need us most. Therefore, Trócaire are appealing to you to return your Lenten donation hopefully by Pentecost (May 31st) . Simply count or estimate what is in your box & donate in the following ways: 1. Online at www.trocaire.org 2. By phone: 1850 408 408 (ROI) 3. By post to Trócaire, Maynooth, Co. Kildare (ROI) 4. Locally– leave in Morans shop or via my letterbox The contents of each Trócaire box, no matter how small, come together to make a significant difference. This virus knows no borders, but neither does our compassion.
Offertory: Received this week Weekly €340 Annual Donation to Offertory €760 [Total €1,100)
Easter Dues €2,120 Trócaire €790
Note: Sometimes people prefer to donate in 1 or a few payments. So figures can vary hence the “weekly” and “annual” distinction above.
FEAST OF THE ASCENSION
He was lifted-up while they looked on
Jesus returns to the home of the Father. The Age of the Spirit draws near. The birth of the Church is imminent. As He slips beyond the clouds, we get a glimpse of our final destination. His leaving is not abandonment but rather, the ultimate act of faith in us. D’imigh Sé romhainn; níor imigh Sé uainn. His mission is now in our hands, flawed as we are. This is a feast that speaks of the constant rhythm of beginnings and endings, points to our destiny and amazes us at the prodigal trust of the Saviour in the potential of His brothers and sisters
REFLECTION: Christians are an Easter people AND an Advent people AND a Christmas people AND an Epiphany people AND a Lent people AND a Holy Week people AND an Ascension people AND a Pentecost people AND a feasts of saints people AND an Ordinary Time people We have them all for a reason.
Coronavirus, Church and You: DCU’s Mater Dei Centre for Catholic Education has an important online survey recently made available. The Covid-19 pandemic has obviously had a profound effect on Church. As we pass the most severe period of lockdown, it seems a good time to assess how clergy and churchgoers have responded to the experience, and what they think the future might hold. The views of priests, religious and lay people are all welcome. To have your say go to: https://www.dcu.ie/materdei-centrefor-catholic-education/news/2020/May/Coronavirus -Church-You-Survey.shtml

OUR LADY OF CLONFERT, I come to you, as one of your children, who will never forget the importance of a woman like you. I come because I believe in you. I come to say thanks for the past and the present and ask you to bless me in the future. You know me, you know how I live and you know my needs. Please help me especially when I need you most. I have problems, worries and anxieties the same as everyone else - help me to cope. So often I would just love to give up when life hurts me and people betray me, but give me the courage never to lose heart. Bless my family, my life and my friends. Help me, no matter what happens to me in life, to believe, to trust and to hope. Our Lady of Clonfert, pray for us.
