Anniversary Masses: With reduced capacity of 15 pews (can be single, couple or family using each pew) in either church and overall capacity of 50– anniversary Masses can be problematic. Households would need to sit together essentially. I may need to gently enquire how many households plan on attending.  Individual Baptisms may be celebrated, under the following conditions: The number present is determined by the social distancing (S.D.)  measure of 2 metres. In larger churches with capacity the total figure present should not exceed 50, including the celebrant, and volunteers. Funerals: Again 2 metres S.D. determines the capacity (Max 50) including celebrant, and volunteers.

Act of Spiritual Communion  My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You have already come , and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.
14th  SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
I am meek and humble in heart”
“Ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ”, according to the great Fourth Century scholar, St Jerome. When the Word of God is proclaimed in our Churches, or when we read the Scriptures for ourselves, God speaks to us. We come to see Him more clearly, so that we may follow him more nearly. Nobody every outgrows the Scriptures; the Book widens and deepens with the years. In today’s Gospel extract, Jesus deepens our understanding of who He is. He is speaking to people whose religion was a thing of burdens, a forest of rules and regulations. He is offering them something different. He invites them to bring their cares and worries to Him since He is gentle and humble in heart. Gentleness is a beautiful virtue, which is often equated with weakness, but in reality, the opposite is true. St. Francis de Sales expressed this truth so well: “nothing is as strong as gentleness and nothing is as gentle as real strength”. Come to think of it all cruelty has its root in weakness. The most notorious dictators are essentially weak and insecure people. Gentleness is power under control. It’s a choice to be considerate, tender and gracious. To e gentle is to be close to the heart of God. The Scriptures  tell us so.

CONFIRMATION - August 22nd 2020.
Put simply either Church is too small for a socially distanced Confirmation. I will write to parents via School Email to propose an alternate bigger venue—Ferbane. Either we have 2 group ceremonies here or we avail of another church. That’s presuming the cap of 50 attendees is lifted in first place as with bare minimums (child, parents, sponsor, staff and me– we have 85) FIRST HOLY COMMUNION -12 noon in St. Ciaran’s, Clonfanlough  on September 26th  2020
CEMETERY DAY Aug 1cancelled.. I will say Mass privately there & bless graves

The Sunday obligation of Mass has been suspended. You can fulfil your Sunday obligation by attending Mass on weekdays.  People with underlying conditions or concerns  should avail of the Online and Televised options.
OFFERTORY  baskets will not be used for the time being. We have two free standing units at the Porches-you can donate as you exit.
HOLY COMMUNION  may only be received on the hand and reception of the chalice is suspended. I will be wearing a face covering ONLY for that time of Holy Communion.
FACE COVERINGS/MASKS  The wearing of face coverings is a personal decision by those attending Mass. It is not compulsory at this time to do so.
MISSALETTES  St. Paul’s have not been producing Missalettes since Covid 19. They will start again on 20th July. We still issue a Newsletter each week. But with my old copier double sided doesn't work! Sorry
SHOULD I COME?  We need to be patient and take our time. Initially, those who are vulnerable or nervous might prefer to continue to join the community by radio, television or over the internet. Weekday Masses are quite low (ranging from 14-25 in attendance). Some parishes are closing for weekend Masses owing to fear of turning people away. In the event there is no place– external speakers of Church will be in operation and Masses streamed on the internet.
WE’RE BACK—IN CHURCH: VOLUNTEERS NEEDED  To keep our Churches open has been a hard won achievement– many remain closed since March 12th.  Cleaning is an issue.  Volunteers are needed to augment our wonderful Church Care teams and some on rota may wish to step back. Ushers at weekend seems to be our need. People self regulate pretty well at weekday judging by Week 1 of being open. We are creating a list of volunteers to help out at Saturday and Sunday Mass. If you feel you could help out in any way I would be most grateful.  086 8319500

CHURCH CARE July 5-12  Marian McManus, Catherina Slattery, Ann Corbett

AS WE RETURN—After sixteen weeks we will gather for Mass this weekend. It will be different. It will be in our Churches, we measured both Halls and no improved capacity there-  It will be just 50 people maximum (over 15 pews in each Church) socially distanced. Others will pray the Mass from nearby . Hand sanitizers, no baskets, no servers, no choir, reader, eucharistic minister, no sign of peace and Communion in the hand will be the norm for these coming Sunday Masses. But it is a beginning, it’s the “Dawn of Hope”. It will be so good to see you back again. I missed you. Thank you for your understanding, your sacrifice, your patience and your generosity these past weeks. -
Points to Remember:
15 Pews/benches in each church
(Can be 15 individuals, couples or families)
Restriction of 50 still maintains
Please keep in mind social distancing when coming into the Church. You will come in to the Church via the main door and exit via the side doors.
-People who live together can sit together.
-Sanitisation stations are available at Church entrance and exits. We recommend using them on entering and leaving the Church.  (always ensure hands are dry from same when lighting candles at Shrine– just saying!)
-The Sunday obligation of Mass has been suspended. You can fulfil your Sunday obligation by attending Mass during the week.
-if Church is full, people can sit in their cars, listen to Mass on speaker or online and avail of Holy Communion at the end along with others.
We pray for the gift of patience, protection and personal responsibility as we prepare to welcome people back to our Church celebrations. Thank you.
