Barry Keenan Ferbane and Ruth Rafferty Ferbane were married at the weekend and held their reception in the Shearwater Hotel in Ballinasloe.

Barry is a son of Josie and the late Margaret ‘Peg’, and Ruth is a daughter of Tommy and the late ‘Mary. Barry was the last of the six Keenan children to get married.

Wishing Barry and Mary every blessing and a happy marriage.

Monday and Willie Joyce was in Shannonbridge. Willie who had a small chain of casual clothing at one time has now left that field and is selling office furniture based out of Birr and Ahascragh. P.J. Middleton who operates a fleet of limousine coaches for hire and based in Birr was travelling with Willie.

Neither have the franchise for the new tinkers after shave which is called Howya Boss.

I attended the final night production of John B. Keane’s play The Field last night in the Birr Theatre & Arts Group who are celebrating 50 years of enjoyment this year. They started in the Marian Hall and now have their own theatre called Oxmantown Hall. They have a special celebration planned on 6th December in The Marian Hall with a cast of fifty or more taking part.
