Today Friday 29th January G.R.Robinson Belmont the Mineral Water and
Bottlers for many years in this area closed for business.
One of the delivery workers was telling
that the G.R. stood for George Russell.
The original George Russell came to work
in the Perry's Mill in 1867.
He came from England as a Master Miller.
Perry's Mill has ceased operating for some years
and is now open to the public to visit.
One of the artifacts on display there is a large bound ledger
with the names of the employees and their weekly wages.
On the first line of the first page is
George Russell Robinson and his weekly pay was £1-10-0.
Hopefully there will be more to add to the G.R.Robinson story later.
