Questions people ask (Fr O’Flynn – Intercom)Q. In the light of clerical scandals do you ever regret being a priest?A. The vast majority of priests are faithful, dedicated people. Sure, none of them is perfect, but the majority are dedicated to the worship of God and loyal in the service of people. It is a privileged calling, but, in the words of an advertising slogan, nobody said it would be easy. Regret it? Not for one second. Rather, I am deeply grateful for the call of God and for the goodness of all who trust me and support me in many ways. It’s a great calling, thank God.

The Year for Priests
This was begun on the Feast of the Sacred Heart in 2009.
It was declared so in order to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the death of the Cure of Ars, patron of parish priests worldwide. It is the hope of the Pope that this will support the faithfulness and holiness of priests, lead to renewal and deepen commitment. St John Vianney lived a life of prayer, service and penance with a special ministry to the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
It is in this context that the Bishops have arranged for a visit of the Relics of the Saint to our country.
We are all, lay & ordained, called by Baptism to be a priestly people
No priest is ordained in isolation, but belongs to a whole network of relationships in the Church. So the visit of the Relics calls on us to pray for one another, for the priesthood and religious vocations.
The relics of St John Vianney (Cure of Ars) will be honoured in Knock on next Tues in a day of prayer for priests.
All are invited to Knock where there will be Mass @ 3pm.
