Shannonbridge overcame Doon in a well contested game at Shannonbridge on Saturday last. The home side established a two point half-time lead with scores coming from Eddie Egan (2), Adrian Kelly, Marty Kilduff and Trevor Mahon (from a 45). Doon upped their game on the resumption scoring four points and a well taken goal to lead by two points going into the final ten minutes. Shannonbridge finished strongly, with three Eddie Egan points keeping the score board ticking over, and hit back with a goal from the recently returned Eamon Kelly. A Shane Flannery point closed the scoring. Final score Shannonbridge 1-9, Doon 1-7. Official Opening of Shannonbridge GAA Field.
The opening of Shannonbridge GAA Field is fixed for Saturday 1st May, programme commencing at 5pm. The opening will be performed by GAA President Christy Cooney, followed by a Senior Football Challange - Longford v Offaly. More details later.
