Shannonbridge GAA Club Notes

Shannonbridge GAA Club Notes.

Intermediate Football Championship.
Shannonbridge qualified for the quarter finals with a two point win over Clonbullogue, in Durrow, on Sunday.  A diagonal cross-field breeze made conditions difficult, resulting in a low scoring game, with a large number of wides on both sides.  Clonbullogue, playing with the breeze, established a half time lead of 0-3 to 0-1.  After the break, Shannonbridge levelled the game with points from Michael Corbett and Kieran Flannery before taking the lead with a Flannery free after Karol Kelly was fouled.  Two more points from Paul Deeley and Flannery were enough to see off some sustained Clonbullogue pressure as they came in search of a winning goal in the last few minutes.  Final score Shannonbridge 0-6; Clonbullogue 0-4.

Team: Donal Corbett, S. Flannery, P. Maloney, M. Darcy, D. Finn, Darragh Corbett, P. Kelly, J, Egan, P. Egan, E. Egan, T. Mahon, K. Flannery (0-3), P. Deeley (0-2), K. Kelly, M. Corbett (0-1).  Subs: R. O’Connor, A. Coughlan.

Junior B Football Championship.
Shannonbridge came from six points down to secure a well deserved draw with Durrow, in Durrow, on Monday evening.  Durrow used wind advantage to establish an 0-5 to 0-2 lead at half time, with Shannonbridge’s scores coming from Adrian and Anthony Kelly.  Durrow extended their lead to six points with fifteen minutes remaining.  Shannonbridge then upped their game and in a determined team effort, reeled off six unanswered points to level the game at 0-8 each.

Team: C. Kelly, G. Maleany, K. Coughlan, J. Deeley, D. Hogan, J. Ryan (0-1), M. Maloney, C. Killeen (0-1), J. Killeen, Anthony Kelly (0-4), Adrian Kelly (0-1), C. Brazil (0-1), M. Kilduff, K. Kearns, C. Kenny.

Questions people ask                                                    (Fr O’Flynn – Intercom}

  Q. Should I continue to go to confession as I always find I have no sins to confess?

A. You probably are a good-living person who doesn’t break the commandments. But nobody is perfect. Do you love God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength and all your mind? How much time do you give to prayer each day? Are you reading to develop your faith? Do you forgive others, help those in need, control negative thoughts, treat people with sensitivity and courtesy? What are the areas of character that you need God’s grace to improve?
