THE FIRST SUNDAY OF LENT

TEMPTATION IN THE WILDERNESS

l3th/14th February, 2016

There are two things that need to be said in the lead in to this Sunday’s Gospel. The first is the reality of evil in the world. Sometimes there’s a tendency to dismiss that reality. That’s a temptation in itself.  The second point is that the Gospel message isn’t just for others.  Its message is for you and for me.  We’re off guard when we dismiss the reality of evil or when we turn the spotlight on other people.  Complacency is one of the weapons of the tempter.
