THE TWELFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

18th/19th June, 2016

Who Do You Say I Am?
It’s Peter who comes up with the answer to the Lord’s question.  “You are the Christ of God.”  That was it, straight and simple and clear.  Jesus does not entertain sitting on the fence.  He expects his followers to stand up and be counted.

Mass times:- Shannonbridge, Saturday (Vigil), 8.00 p.m.; Sunday, 12.00 noon,  Friday, 7.30 p.m.  Clonfanlough, Sunday, 10.30 a.m.

Mass for the Intentions of the People of the Parish, Missa pro Populo, in Clonfanlough on Sunday 19th at 10.30 a.m.

Mass is celebrated at Cluain Ciaráin Prayer Centre, on Wednesday evenings at 7.30.

The Revised Mass Schedule in the Pastoral Cluster Area comes into effect on Sunday, 3rd July.  In the Parish of Clonmacnois:- Shannonbridge, Saturday (Vigil), 8.00 p.m.; Clonfanlough, Sunday, 10.30 a.m.  (12.00 noon Mass discontinued).
The proposal that the arrangement alternate between the two churches, on a six-monthly basis, has been discussed at cluster level.  It will not affect the operation of the timetable in adjoining parishes.
The new schedule includes Mass on Sunday, at 7.00 p.m., in St. Mary’s Church, Ferbane.

Sunday 19th is the Feast of St. Romuald, Italian hermit and abbot, did much to reform the solitary life, died 1027.
Monday 20th, The Irish Martyrs, Irish men and women, clergy, religious and lay, put to death for the Catholic faith between 1579 and 1654.
Tuesday 21st, St. Aloysius Gonzaga, 1568-1591, Jesuit novice, native of Italy, who died of the fever while working in a plague hospital in Rome.  Patron of A.I.D.S. sufferers.
Wednesday 22nd, St. Paulinus of Nola, France, 355-431, married with one son, gave up all his worldly goods to enter monastic life, worked to relieve the misery of his time.
Wednesday 22nd, St. John Fisher, Bishop of Rochester, and St. Thomas More, Lord Chancellor of England; both martyred under Henry VIII in 1535.
Friday 24th is The Birthday of St. John the Baptist.  The name John means ‘the Lord has shown favour’.  It is appropriate since his parents Zechariah and Elizabeth were advanced in years.
