The second Sunday of Easter- is designated Divine Mercy Sunday. St. John Paul 11 said ‘It is the Sunday of thanksgiving for all the goodness God has shown us in the whole Easter Mystery’ The Feast was extended to the Catholic Church by him on April 30, 2000, the day that he canonized a young Polish nun Saint Maria Faustina. Her message is a reminder of what the Church has always taught through scripture and tradition: that God is merciful and forgiving and that we, too, must show mercy and forgiveness.

Live the Word: Thomas put his finger in our Lord's wounded hands. When we put our problems in God's hands, he puts his peace into our hearts.

Easter Reflection
Breaking through the powers of darkness
Bursting from the stifling tomb He slipped into the graveyard garden To smell the blossom air. Tell them, Mary, Jesus said, That I have journeyed far Into the darkest deeps I’ve been In nights without a star. Tell them, Mary, Jesus said, That fear will flee my light That though the ground will tremble And despair will stalk the earth I hold them firmly by the hand Through terror, to new birth. Tell them, Mary, Jesus said, The globe and all that’s made Is clasped to God’s great bosom They must not be afraid. For though they fall and die, He said And the black earth wrapped them tight They will know the warmth Of God’s healing hands In the early morning light. Tell them, Mary, Jesus said, Smelling the blossomed air Tell my people to rise with me To heal the earth’s despair.

APRIL 1st/2nd Collection for World Meeting of Families
Pope Francis personally chose Dublin, to be the host diocese for the World Meeting of Families from 22-26 August 2018.  Planning for this great national and international celebration of faith is well underway.   A dedicated office and support team has been established and later this year a nationwide programme of talking about the family will begin with an emphasis on Pope Francis’ teaching and reflections.  The World Meeting of Families promises to be an occasion that will reflect on the faith experience of families from many parts of the world as well as on the challenges and celebrations which characterise the ups and downs of day-to-day family life. A collection (envelope in Parish Box of Envelopes) will be held on April 1st/2nd  to help meet the expenses of this Gathering.

Fifth Week of Lent Lord, Be my strength as I go about the activities of this week, in any good deeds for others and in my prayer and denial, I ask you to bless me my Lord and my God. In your goodness help me this week to grow under your protection. Grant me a thankful heart that I may always praise you for all your kindnesses to me, All graces you pour on me, graces I do not merit.
