16th SUNDAY OF THE YEAR
‘You must come away to some lonely place’
Jesus invites His friends to come aside to a lonely place to rest a while. He understood the importance of having rhythm and balance in life. He was teaching them that no fruitful work is possible without the practice of solitude. If they are to journey out to others they must first make the journey inwards to regain their perspective and recharge their spirit. Solitude is the ordeal that gives us the right to speak. Dag Hammarskjold, the second Secretary General of the United Nations extolled the necessity of solitude in these memorable words: ‘Speak only out of silence; act only out of stillness’. It is out of silence and solitude that worship springs. The cultivation of a healthy silence is of the essence if the celebration of the Eucharist on the Lord’s Day is to have meaning. The ‘little encounters’ during the week prepare the ground for the ‘great encounter’ on the ‘Day of the Sun’. These ‘little encounters’ or ‘minute vacations’ can happen over a cup of coffee in the early morning or in a quiet corner of the house when the family has gone to bed. The important thing is to find that sanctuary place each day where God can speak to the heart. God is the friend of silence.
A Summer Letter to best friends
As the summer emerges, we take time to connect again with our Family and Friends and hopefully renew the relationship that was partly disturbed by Covid. Here is a reflective letter to best friends. One day, all of us will get separated from each other. We will miss our conversations of everyday of everything and nothing and the dreams we had. Days, months and years will pass until this contact becomes rare. One day, our children will see our pictures and ask : "Who are these people? ”. And we will smile with invisible tears because a heart is touched with a strong word. And we will say : “It was with them that I had some of the best days of my life”. Thank you friends for being there for me And always bringing a smile on my face. Love you all best friends

World Day of Prayer for Grandparents & the Elderly celebrated on Sunday 25th July. The theme for this day of prayer is “I am with you always” (Matthew 28:20).
World Day for Grandparents & the Elderly
I thank You, Lord, for the comfort of Your presence: even in times of loneliness. You are my hope and my confidence. You have been my rock and my fortress since my youth! I thank You for having given me a family and for having blessed me with a long life. I thank You for moments of joy and difficulty, for the dreams that have already come true in my life and for those that are still ahead of me. I thank You for this time of renewed fruitfulness to which You call me. Increase, O Lord, my faith, make me a channel of your peace, teach me to embrace those who suffer more than me, to never stop dreaming and to tell of your wonders to new generations. Protect and guide Pope Francis and the Church, that the light of the Gospel might reach the ends of the earth. Send Your Spirit, O Lord, to renew the world, that the storm of the pandemic might be calmed, the poor consoled and wars ended. Sustain me in weakness and help me to live life to the full in each moment that You give me, in the certainty that you are with me every day, even until the end of the age. Amen
