FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT
‘Your liberation is near at hand’
A new Church Year begins. We move into the season of Advent. The word ‘advent’ means ‘coming’. During these days we are asked to think about the coming of Christ at Christmas, His coming at the end of time and His coming into our lives every day. It is really a four-week course in waiting. Over the past two years we have become accustomed to waiting; waiting in the queue; waiting for guidelines; waiting for the roll-out of the vaccine; waiting for updates; waiting for a return to ‘normality’. It has been and continues to be an extended advent time. It may perhaps, help us to enter this grace-filled season more thoughtfully, insightfully and fruitfully. Like its cousin, Lent, it is a moment of opportunity for prayer and growth. We have travelled the road often, but sometimes we see something for the first time on familiar roads. As we gaze on the Advent wreath today we might reflect on the circle of life with its constant cycle of endings and beginnings, comings and goings, while the gentle flame of the candle should reassure us that the darkest night cannot quench the light of hope which a tiny infant brought to our world over two thousand years ago. We wait and we hope.

World Mission Sunday - 24 October This year we will celebrate World Mission Sunday over the weekend of 24 October. Its theme ‘We Cannot Remain Silent - We cannot but speak about what we have seen and heard (Acts 4 20)' is twofold. It is message of hope - Jesus Christ is risen and we cannot keep his love compassion and mercy to ourselves. It also challenges us to stand-up and speak on behalf of those whose voices are too small to be heard We all have the potential to be champions for those who are weaker For them we cannot remain silent All offerings and donations made for World Mission Sunday become part of the Holy Father's Universal Solidarity Fund. This Fund is essential not only for missionaries but for the future of the Church. It supports missionary activities in over 1,100 mission dioceses, mostly in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. However, World Mission Sunday is far more than an appeal for financial help. Missionaries also need your spiritual support. On this universal celebration missionaries can take great strength in knowing that the faithful of the world are keeping them in their thoughts and prayers.

Proposed Works to Enable Development of
Grid Services to Support Decarbonisation of

To learn more about the project, meet with the project team and to have your input, members of the public and interested parties are invited to attend an online Public Consultation Session on Tuesday 30th November 2021.

Confirmation 2022: Unfortunately we are unable to announce Confirmation dates at this time.
Advent is the prayer of waiting:
Waiting with the excitement of the child for the Toy Show. Waiting with bated breath of parents for their baby to be born.
Waiting with hidden pain and shame for the court case.
Waiting in fear and hope for the MRI results.
Waiting anxiously for the Covid test results.
Waiting patiently for the next vaccine.
Waiting in vigil for that last breathe and final farewell.
Waiting for this pandemic time to come to an end….
Waiting in the prayer of Advent Time. Let us breath the Advent Prayer MARANATHA. Let us become one breath in the Advent Prayer of our world. Waiting, waiting, forever waiting for Christ our healing, our hope and our Friend.
Blessing of a Crib. Loving Father: out of great love for us. You sent Your Son, Jesus to become one of us, our flesh and blood. Jesus was born in a cattle shed, giving us an example of humility and reminding us He is found among the poor. We ask You to bless our family Crib. It reminds us forever of the Christmas Story. May this crib draw us closer to Jesus our brother, as a family, and with the family of the poorest of our world. Make of our hearts a space, a manger of compassion and welcome where Christ Child can be born this Christmas 2021. (The youngest member of the family blesses the crib with holy water.)
