Junior A Football Championship

Shannonbridge 0-14
Killeigh 1-7

Shannonbridge got their Junior A Championship campaign
of to a winning start when they recorded a very
impressive win over Killeigh in Cloghan on Saturday
evening last.

Shannonbridge led by 0-4 to 0-1 after ten minutes. The
Bridge continued to hold a lead of four points after
playing with a strong breeze in the first half. The game
then took a turn early in the second half with Killeigh
taking control, scoring a goal and three points to put them
into a two point lead and with a strong wind in their backs.

Shannonbridge looked dead and buried when Killeigh won a
penalty with little more fifteen minutes remaining in the game.
The Shannonbridge keeper made a fine
save and the bridge never looked back, taking control of the
game to run out comfortable four point winners against a strong
and determined Killeigh team.

This game saw some very well worked scores
and great passages of play.

On the day Roger Ryan was very solid in the back line
while up front Anthony Kelly showed that he is still
very cacapable of producing the goods. Also Richie
Browne had a big influence on the game when he came
into midfield.
