Somebody mentioned a website named www.teangafein.ie which may be a help in learning Irish words and phrases. Here are a few that appeared.

Is fearr lan doirn de cheird na lan mala d’or.

Better a handful of skill than a bagful of gold.

Conas ata tu ? How are you ?

It was good to have Michael Green home from Boston on a short visit. He returns today.

There was a good turnout in Clonmacnois last evening for a Service of Remembrance & Thanksgiving & Prayer in memory of the late Pope John Paul 11. After a wet and windy day the weather turned good and we even had some sunshine for the short service which consisted of prayers and singing and words spoken by the late Pope when he visited Ireland. At his funeral in Rome they chanted out the Saints names and a part of the ceremony was the chanting of the Irish Saints. Bishop Cahal Daly was in attendance and gave a short homily of which he kindly gave me a copy afterwards and which hopefully will be added to this site and titled Homily.

One of the priests in attendance was distributing a mortuary memorial card which has a photograph of Pope John Paul 11 1920 – 2005 leaning on his crosier on the front while on the back is featured a picture of the Pope taken in 1987.
