Mick Fleming from Rhode and Paul ‘The Gizmo’ Glennan stopped off in Shannonbridge today. Mick is a son of Christy Fleming who served as a Garda in Shannonbridge in the late fifties. He was transferred to Portarlington for a period before being appointed a Sergeant in Rhode where he remained until he died in 2001 from cancer. At the time of his appointment Christy was one of the youngest sergeants in the Garda Siochana. While in Portarlington he met Nora Kelly and married her. They had two boys Mick and Stormy Norman and two girls Chantelle and Elaine who died

Mick and the Gizmo were on their way back from a stag weekend for Norman who is getting married in Croghan next month..

Today Monday I was glad to meet Annie Price that was our neighbour and her daughter Lesley who are on holiday this week from England.

Many thanks to Padraic Turley for sending on the tribute poem to his aunt Sister Monica which was composed by her friends in religion as a celebration for her 90th birthday.
