Ted McAvoy as you can read below are looking for interesting stories about the bog or trains or power stations.
Hello Derry
Hello Derry
You should keep your Killeen's diary up! It makes good reading.
You might remember Sue and I - doing the history etc of Bord na Mona's railways. I was wondering if you'd put
the word about and see if anyone comes up with some interesting stories about working for BnM - problems, weather, jokes anything really.
Photos, however faded, of bog machines, trains, power stations would be very welcome.
We'll be over again in July and, this time, we can stay at Killeen's for the music and still have a few drinks because our host, Sean Kelly at Mucklagh, has offered to pick us up and take us home.
all the best

Somebody somewhere - Belmont, Shannonbridge, Clonfert, etc etc - must have some good/bad memories of Bord na Mona bogs and railways or Blackwater works. I'm writing a book and have lots of facts but no tales or written craic.
You can't work on a bog for 30/40 years without something interesting happening!
Thanks to one guy from Boora who remembers President Kennedy flying over the bogs in '62.
