Shannonbridge played Tubber, at the away venue, in their opening fixture on Saturday night. In difficult conditions, Shannonbridge opened with a goal by John Turley, but were three points in arrears at the interval, before going down by six points (1-4 to 1-10). Team: C. Kelly, C. Kenny, J. Division Two League.
Shannonbridge started brightly against Clonbullogue and led by four points after twelve minutes, with scores from Peadar Kelly, Declan Kelly and Kieran Flannery (2). The visitors, however, levelled matters by half time and went two points clear mid-way through the second half. Three points from Niall Price, K. Flannery and Peadar Kelly put Shannonbridge back in front with five minutes to go. A penalty awarded to Clonbullogue in the 27th minute saw them take the game on a score-line of 0-9 to 1-8. Team: R. Dinner and Presentation Night.
The club Dinner and Presentation Night will be held in the Old Fort Restaurant, on Friday night, 4th March, with music by One to One. Presentations will be made to the 2010 Div. Five League winners and to the Senior and Junior Players of the Year. A limited number of tickets are available at €25 each.
Shannonbridge / Doon Lottery.
There was no winner of last week’s jackpot. The numbers drawn were 4, 13, 14, 16. There were three match threes. This week’s jackpot is €4,800.
