Shannonbridge GAA Club Notes

Division Four Football League.
Shannonbridge secured their first win of the league, overcoming Pollagh by three points, at the away venue, on Thursday night. Playing with a stiff breeze, the home side started well and established an eight point lead 2-2 to 0-0 after twenty minutes. Shannonbridge gradually got to grips with the conditions and four points from Philip Egan, Anthony Kelly 0-2 and Paul Moloney left the half time score at 0-4 to 2-4. After the interval, Shannonbridge set about reducing the deficit and reeled off the points, including some fine scores from Peadar Kelly, Anthony Kelly and John Guinan, before taking the lead on twenty two minutes and finishing on a score line of 0-15 to 2-6. Team: C. Kelly, J. Duffy, P. Moloney (0-2), M. Moloney, S. Flannery, C. Kenny, Aidan Kelly, J. Killeen, M. Carty, L. Duffy, P. Egan (0-1), Anthony Kelly (0-5), J. Guinan (0-3), R. Ryan, P. Division Two Football League.
Shannonbridge emerged winners by the narrowest of margins in their game against Rhode, at Shannonbridge, on Saturday last. The home side opened the scoring with three Kieran Flannery points in the first six minutes. They were still in front when Rhode were awarded a penalty in the twenty fifth minute, which they converted for an interval lead of 0-5 to 1-3. Shannonbridge regained the lead through points from Kieran Flannery (free) and Trevor Mahon. A penalty awarded in the eight minute, was dispatched to the net by Peadar Kelly, after Kieran Kearn’s well struck spot kick was parried by the Rhode keeper. A second Rhode goal in the fourteenth minute wiped out the home advantage (1-7 to 2-4) and, in a frantic finish, Karol Kelly secured the points with the last score of the game. Final Score 1-8 to 2-4. Team: R. Ryan, W. Keena, J. Egan, M. Darcy, S. Flannery, R.O’Connor, P. Moloney, C. Killeen, T. Mahon (0-1), N. Price, P. Egan, P. Kelly (1-0), K. Kelly(0-1), K. Kearns, K.
