Division Two Football League.
A much improved performance by Shannonbridge saw them record their first league win, overcoming Clonbullogue, on Sunday, at Shannonbridge.
This game featured a welcome first start for John Ryan after a long absence through injury. The home side were soon into their stride leading four points to two after ten minutes. A trip on Kieran Flannery, when through on goal, yielded a penalty. Paul Deely’s spot kick was well saved at the expense of a point. A good goal by Peadar Kelly, midway through the first half, gave Shannonbridge a six point lead. Clonbullogue were reduced to fourteen men just before the interval. Half time score 1-8 to 0-4.
Shannonbridge maintained their lead through the second half and with good support play, picked off some good scores, to lead by 1-19 to 0-8 at the final whistle.
