The Good Samaritan
Getting involved can be a tricky business.  
It could have been tricky, very tricky, for the Samaritan.   But still, he did get involved because he put the other person first.  
Jesus’ instruction to the man who put the
initial question, his instruction to us — 
"Go and do the same yourself."

Mass for the Intentions of the People of the Parish, Missa pro Populo, in Shannonbridge on Saturday 9th at 8.00 p.m.

A Night Prayer Vigil will be held at Cluain Ciaráin Prayer Centre on Friday 15th. Mass at 9.00 p.m. Adoration and prayer follow, concluding at 2.10 am. All Welcome. Enquiries: David Murray, 085 774 6763.  Mass is celebrated at the Payer Centre, on Wednesday evenings at 7.30.

Those attending are asked to bring a small bottle of  Holy Water for the sprinkling of the graves.

Monday 11th is the Feast of St. Benedict, a patron of Europe, 480-550, native of Italy, founder of the Benedictines under his ‘Rule’ distinguished by its wisdom and balance.
Tuesday 12th, St. Veronica, traditionally identified as the woman who wiped the face of Christ as he carried the cross to Calvary.  She is not mentioned in biblical accounts of the Passion.  Her gesture is remembered in the Sixth Station of the Cross.  Her name is said to come from the Latin vera icon, meaning ‘true image’.
Wednesday 13th, St. Henry, 973-1024, Duke of Bavaria and later Emperor, a just ruler and a man of prayer.
Thursday 14th, St. Camillus, 1550-1614, born in Naples, joined the army, converted at the age of 25, guided by St. Philip Neri he became a priest, distressed by his earlier experience of war he set about caring for the sick and the wounded.  He is patron of nurses, hospitals and the sick.
Friday 15th, St. Bonaventure, 1221-1274, born in Tuscany, Italy, Minister General of the Franciscans, cardinal, theologian of the Council of Lyons.
Friday 15th, St. Swithin.  Bishop of Winchester, died 862.  Folklore has it that rain on his feast day indicates wet weather for the following 40 days!
Saturday 16th, Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The Scapular of Mount Carmel is a reduced form of the Carmelite religious habit.  It is a sign of the relationship between the Blessed Virgin Mary and those who entrust themselves to her protection and have recourse to her maternal intercession.
