1491-1556, from the north of Spain; founded the
Society of Jesus, the Jesuits. Pope Francis is a Jesuit.
Monday, 1st August, St. Alphonsus Mary Liguori,
1696-1787, born near Naples , founder of the
Redemptorists, he taught much on moral theology and the spiritual life.
Tuesday 2nd, St. Eusebius of Vercelli , laboured to
suppress the Arian heresy which denied the full divinity of Christ. He died in 371.
Tuesday 2nd, St. Peter Julian Eymard, 1811-1868, native
of France , established the
Blessed Sacrament Fathers and with the help of Sr. Marguerite Guillot founded
the Servants of the Blessed Sacrament.
Thursday 4th, St. John Mary Vianney, 1786-1859, Curé de
Ars, renowned confessor and spiritual healer.
Friday 5th, the Dedication of the Basilica of St. Mary Major in Rome . It is the first church in the West named in honour of the
Mother of God.
Saturday 6th, The Transfiguration of the Lord, a
glimpse of his Resurrection glory.
Friday is the First Friday of
August. The Holy Communion calls to the
sick and housebound will be made on Friday.
First
Saturday in honour of Our Lady of
Fatima. Mass will be celebrated at the
