Sunday 1st October Day For Life. It is a day dedicated to raising awareness about the meaning and value of human life at every stage and in every condition.
The gift of a new child, entrusted by the Lord to a father and a mother, begins with acceptance, continues with lifelong protection and has as its final goal the joy of eternal life.  By serenely contemplating the ultimate fulfilment of each human person, parents will be even more aware of the precious gift entrusted to them.  For God allows parents to choose the name by which he himself will call their child for all eternity (Pope Francis. Amoris Laetitia, 166)
Prayer to Mary , Mother of the Life Within. O Mary, Mother of the Life Within, All life we entrust to you; The life of every expectant mother and the child within her womb: The life of every human body, The life of every human soul; The life of every newborn child And the life of all grown old.
You held the Lord to your own heart and Drew him so close in. So draw us now in all our needs, O Mother of the Life Within Amen.

LOSS OR GAIN! Once a man was asked, “What did you gain by praying regularly to God?” The man replied, “Nothing. But let me tell you what I lost: anger, ego, greed, depression, insecurity and fear of death.” Sometimes the answer to our prayers is not gaining but losing; which ultimately is the gain.
Marred Hands Settled the Issue
The price Jesus paid for our redemption was terrible indeed. When we think of the extreme suffering He endured to purchase our freedom from sin’s penalty, our hearts should overflow with love for Him. Leslie B. Flynn told a story that illustrates this truth.
An orphaned boy was living with his grandmother when their house caught fire. The grandmother, trying to get upstairs to rescue the boy, perished in the flames. The boy’s cries for help were finally answered by a man who climbed an iron drainpipe and came back down with the boy hanging tightly to his neck.
Several weeks later, a public hearing was held to determine who would receive custody of the child. A farmer, a teacher, and the town’s wealthiest citizen all gave the reasons they felt they should be chosen to give the boy a home. But as they talked, the lad’s eyes remained focused on the floor. Then a stranger walked to the front and slowly took his hands from his pockets, revealing severe scars on them. As the crowd gasped, the boy cried out in recognition. This was the man who had saved his life. His hands had been burned when he climbed the hot pipe. With a leap the boy threw his arms around the man’s neck and held on for dear life. The other men silently walked away, leaving the boy and his rescuer alone. Those marred hands had settled the issue.
Many voices are calling for our attention. Among them is the One whose nail-pierced hands remind us that He has rescued us from sin and its deadly consequences. To Him belongs our love and devotion. -D.C.E.

STATION MASSES This is the time of year when we celebrate the ‘Station Masses’, a long-standing tradition in Ireland & and unbroken link with the faith and practice of our ancestors. We are looking for volunteers to host the Station Mass, even it is not your ‘Turn’, or/and having it for the first time; or you may simply wish to have Mass in your home. We would encourage people to keep the occasion as simple as possible. We do not want this to be a burden on anybody.

HURLERS PRAYER Grant me O Lord, a hurler's skill, With strength of arm and speed of limb Unerring eye for the flying ball And courage to match whate'er befall May my stroke be steady and my aim be true My actions manly and my misses few No matter what way the game may go May I rest in friendship with every foe When the final whistle for me has blown
And I stand at last before God's judgement throne May the great referee when he calls my name
Say, “you hurled like a man; you played the game”. Seamus Redmond
