Ash Wednesday 14th February Wednesday next begins the Holy Season of Lent. It is a day of fast and abstinence. Fast = one full meal and two “collations” or light meals. Abstinence = the use of meat or its products is forbidden. Ages 18-60 years
Lent as we all know is an opportunity and an invitation to practice Temperance.
Temperance is usually associated with food & alcohol (sweets and cigarettes during Lent), but Temperance means moderation and balance in our life choices and life style, the way I spend my time, it’s also about the time I give to work, family and to prayer. Please take home a Trócaire box and place on the family table during Lent.
