PETITIONS - During Lent this year, as part of our preparation for the World Meeting of Families in August, people are welcome to write personal petitions for their families & place them in a special Petition Box in each Church. These boxes will be taken to St. Mary’s, Athlone when the Holy Family Icon comes there on March 21st/22nd. Then they will be brought to the Poor Clare Convent in Drumshanbo, where the nuns will pray for these intentions & finally they will be taken to the Papal Mass in Dublin on August 26th.

“Love…It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” 1 Corinthians 13, 4-7. Trócaire has launched it’s Lenten campaign ‘Until Love Conquers Fear’. Fear is felt by millions of people around the world who can’t feed their families, are forced to flee their homes because of conflict or are imprisoned for standing up for their rights. Love is the support shown to them by people here at home through the Lenten campaign. To find out more visit www.trocaire.org

The World Meeting of Families August 21– 26th 2018 Dublin,
Ireland has the great joy of hosting the 9th World Meeting of Families that will take place in just under seven month’s time form the 21st -26th August 2018. The sense of excitement, expectation and anticipation is building by the day as we prepare to welcome families from across Ireland and across the world to our family gathering. The World Meeting of Families was established in 1994 at the request of Pope St. John Paul and to date has been hosted in Rome, Rio de Janeiro, Milan, Valencia, Mexico City and Philadelphia. Now it’s our turn here in Ireland because Pope Francis has personally chosen Dublin to be the host city for the next World Meeting of Families and he has invited us to reflect on the theme “The Gospel of the Family: Joy for the World” The main events of WMOF2018 will take place in Dublin but it is also anticipated that related events, including the hosting of international groups, will take place all over the island of Ireland. The following key moments make up the 9th World Meeting of Families. 1) A National Opening on Tuesday 21st August which will take place simultaneously in each of the dioceses of Ireland. 2) A three day congress from 22-24 August in the RDS, Dublin 3) A Festival of Families on Saturday 25th August , comprising a reflective concert style event within a prayerful and joyful atmosphere, in which personal stories of faith will be shared by families from all continents. 4) A Closing Mass will be celebrated on Sunday 26th August with thousands of people from Ireland and across the World.

BOOKING ESSENTIAL  for the above events: email: info@worldmeeting2018.ie or call: 01 5676800 Volunteers needed: www.worldmeeting2018.ie/volunteer
