 THE WORLD MEETING OF  FAMILIES - Takes place in Dublin next August. It consists of a three day event at the RDS in Ballsbridge (August 22, 23, 24) a vigil-type Festival of Families in Croke Park on the evening of Saturday, August 25 and a concluding Mass in the Phoenix Park in the early afternoon of Sunday, August 25. There is a cost for attendance at the RDS days, but no cost for attendance at the Croke Park and Phoenix Park events, at which Pope Francis will preside. However, for attendance at any of these events, it will be necessary to register online at www.worldmeeting2018.ie. For the Croke Park event, where space is limited, priority will be given to people who have booked to participate in the World Meeting in the RDS

OFFALY FLEADH CHEOIL 2018 - Takes place in Banagher, hosted by local branch West Offaly Comhaltas from April 27th-29th. All competitions take place in Coláiste na Sionna over the weekend kicking off with the Fleadh Ceilí on Friday 27th at 9.30pm. Music by Davy Joe & Carousel.

 BAPTISM - The next meeting for parents in our pastoral area who have a child for baptism will be held in the Parochial House in Ballinahown on Thursday 17th May from 8- 9.00pm. Subsequent pre-baptism meetings are on Thursday 14th June &Thursday 19th July. If you could let me know in advance it’d be great.

ST. CIARAN’S COMMUNITY & TEXT ALERT The rescheduled A.G.M. of the community and text alert group will take place on Wednesday night 25th April in the parish hall Shannonbridge @9 pm sharp.  The group has been providing a number of essential services to the people of the parish for quite a number of years now.  We are currently seeking new members to join and enable us to ensure that the continuation of these valued service can be delivered to the community.  You’re sincerely required to attend.

 2018 WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS The World Day of Prayer for Vocations 2018 falls on Sunday 22nd April, Good Shepherd Sunday. In the Gospel (Mt. 9:38 and Lk. 10:2) Jesus instructs his disciples to “Pray to the Lord of the Harvest to send labourers into his harvest.” Whilst the Church recognises that everyone receives a vocation from God, be it to married life, single life, or some form of ministry, the Church focuses on this day to pray for vocations to ordained ministry (Priesthood and Diaconate) and to religious life in all its forms.

Prayer for Vocations: Lord, I want to be happy in this life and spend eternity with You in the life to come. From the first moment of my existence, You knew my vocation. Please help me discover Your plan for my life. Help me to know myself Help me to overcome my fears Help me to want what You want. Help me to trust You completely. Mary Most Holy, Mother of Jesus, Prayer for me, that I can discover my vocation and have the courage to respond in faith . Amen
