A collection will take place after Communion for the White Fathers. Your support will be greatly appreciated. The White Fathers were founded in Algeria in 1868 and today are present in 24 African and Middle-Eastern countries. There are about 500 young men, mainly in Africa, preparing to become Missionaries of Africa. Data Protection Legislation (GDPR) came into force recently. Among the requirement is that the written consent of people whose names are published in the Newsletter be obtained, for example, Ministers of Holy Communion, Readers, Altar Society, Collectors, those involved in looking after church Grounds. Consent Forms will be left in the Sacristies in each of the Churches. The consent form is an essential element of Data Protection compliance. The Consent form is very short and only takes a few moments to complete and can be completed after any of the Masses. I would be very grateful if you could treat the completion of this form as a priority next time you are at Mass.

Safeguarding Message from Bishop Francis Key Internet Safety Tip for Teenagers Never accept a friend request from someone you do not know. This will help to keep you safe from adults pretending to be teenagers.
Key Internet Safety Advise for Parents Monitor your children's internet usage. This doesn't mean that you continually look over their shoulder. It does mean – Have parental controls switched on, this eliminates many of the problem sites. – Browse the history file frequently. If it is being regularly deleted, you'll need to find out why. – Encourage children to allow you access as friend/user to their social media platforms. This will not only alert you to children accessing unsuitable sites, it will also alert you to friends on-line that you do not know - and it will give you a hint about possible cyber-bullying. – As a family have regular conversations about the risks online. – When you post an image of your child be aware that some photos will always be public. Remember that at some point children will become adults and they may not want embarrassing childhood images showing up online or perhaps being used by their peers to embarrass them. – Check your privacy settings. – Check that your location service is disabled. – Use Screen Time Management Tools - it is important that we all take time offline and we manage the time that we are spending online. Try to set a daily limit and keep to it. (That includes parents!) [Extract from + Francis Safeguarding Message]
