 PAUSE FOR PRAYER

As January shivers into February,
open my eyes, Lord,
and open my mind and heart,
my imagination and my soul,
to your power in the weather,
your presence in the stillness,
your beauty all around me...

In this shortest month of the year, Lord,
help me find the peace you offer:
when it's cold,
wrap me in your mercy's warmth; in the snow,
    cover me with saving grace;
    in nature's dormant silence,
help me find more time for prayer,
time with you to grow in winter's quiet,
in the mystery of your love for me...

As January morphs into February,
open all I am, Lord, to all you have to give
and ready me for springtime
and the promise that it holds...
Amen.

Catholic Schools Week
It was heartening to see this week the immense work of our school staff in nurturing faith. Thank you!. May God continue to bless all families who attend our School.

 FOURTH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME
As Jesus continues to preach His first sermon the mood turns to anger and the audience becomes a mob intent on His destruction. He is rejected by His own when He holds up as models the widow of
Zarephath and Naaman, the Syrian, two Gentiles, two outsiders, two strangers. This was a bridge too far. They refused to countenance the challenge of His teaching, to look beneath the surface, to think
beyond the box: ‘when you look for beauty in all people and all things you not only find it you become it’. It was only when He had gone that His followers would come to grasp the meaning of His words on that day in Nazareth. A custom then
grew among the first generations of Christians whereby a room was kept free for any stranger who might come looking for shelter. It was called ‘the stranger’s room’. They believed that by welcoming
the stranger they were welcoming Christ…
and that is the Gospel truth!
