Prayer for Summer
Father, creator of all, thank you for summer!
Thank you for the warmth of the sun and the increased daylight.
Thank you for the beauty I see all around me and for the opportunity to be outside and enjoy your creation.
Thank you for the increased time I have to be with my friends and family,
and for the more casual pace of the summer season.
Draw me closer to you this summer.
Teach me how I can pray no matter where I am or what I am doing.
Warm my soul with the awareness of your presence and light my path with your word and counsel;
as I enjoy your creation, create in me a pure heart and a hunger and a thirst for you. Amen

St. Oliver Plunkett Man of Peace Oliver Plunkett (1625-81) came of a noble & wealthy family in Oldcastle. He was ordained in Rome in 1654.During the Penal times he was appointed Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of Ireland. Oliver Plunkett was a man of peace, who courageously preached and worked for reconciliation knowing that a price was on his head. He faithfully did what he was ordained to do. Falsely accused of treason, he suffered a martyr’s death on 1st July 1681. Before giving his life, he publicly forgave all who were responsible for his cruel death. We thank God for the work of peace and reconciliation achieved in our country, something that was so dear to the heart of this courageous saint. Monday 1st July is the feast of St. Oliver Plunkett.
SCHOOL IS OUT Our School has come to the end of another school year. It’s an opportunity to say thanks to our Principal, Teachers, SNA’s, School Staff, Members of Board of Managment for the giving of their time and generosity in supporting the work schools do on our behalf. Rest is so important so that the mind and body can be renewed and recreated. We wish all our young friends a lovely Summer. We want to keep our school safe and well maintained, so we would ask passers-by & local residents to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity. Just to remind that apart from school hours, the school and grounds are closed to public access.
“In primitive society, when native tribes beat the ground with clubs and yelled, it was called witchcraft; today, in civilized society, it is called golf.” - Anon.
“I want a man who’s kind and understanding. Is that too much to ask of a millionaire?” - Zsa Zsa Gabor.
“Just because nobody complains doesn’t mean all parachutes are perfect.” - Benny Hill.
“Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach him how to fish and you get rid of him for the whole weekend.” - Zenna Schaffer.
