Our Parish will have  three delegates together with about 280 other delegates from throughout the Diocese and representing various groups ministering and working in the Diocese. We continue to pray for the success of this Assembly, which we hope will shape the future of our Diocese.

WHAT TIME IS MASS?
Well as promised we need to talk about Saturday evening Mass time. We  began on Jan 19th an experimental 6:30pm Mass time. I’ve received mixed feedback on this  both for and against- and numbers seem about the same. I plan to ballot people at Mass on Saturday, October 5th. From a wide discussion at Parish Council the suggestion is we vote on having Mass at 7 or 7:30p.m.  What do you think? Oct 5th will decide it.  If you cant be there– ballot sheets available

DUMPING  IN  OUR CEMETERY
As we welcome visitors to Clonmacnois continually and particularly  this Pattern weekend I am embarrassed to report that  after our 3 big clean ups, we have items being dumped from graves. This simply isn’t on. And it’s not “outsiders” - please stop.  Bring a bag and bring  items away… Dumping is disrespectful to  both the living and our deceased.
RASHINA VINTAGE CLUB ANNUAL THRESHING & WORKING FIELD DAY - Will take place on Sunday 8th September in Mooney's Field, Doon from 12 noon. All are welcome.

TWENTY THIRD SUNDAY OF THE YEAR ‘Anyone who does not carry his cross and come after me cannot be my disciple’.
What is a disciple? According to GK Chesterton, Jesus promised His disciples three things: that they would be completely fearless, absurdly happy and in constant trouble. Being a disciple, then, is exceedingly rewarding but extraordinarily demanding. It is much more than being a follower. It is in essence the call to become who Jesus would be if He were you. Wearing a cross does not make you a disciple; carrying your cross does. The halfway Christian is a contradiction. As St. Thomas More was being led to his execution on July 6th 1535 for refusing to bend to the will of King Henry VIII he uttered the immortal words: ‘I die the king’s loyal servant, but God’s first.’ That is what it means to be a disciple.
