WORLD MISSION SUNDAY It is World Mission Sunday, a day when our entire Church family comes together for a truly incredible celebration of solidarity. Today every single church around the world shares what they can, so that the vital work of the Church and our Missionaries can continue. Through your prayers and generosity, you are offering much needed support to missionaries who dedicate their lives to those who are suffering and neglected. On behalf of all missionaries including the many volunteers who dedicate their lives to bringing hope and love where there is despair, thank you for your generosity towards the World Mission Sunday collection this weekend.
HOUR OF PRAYER & REFLECTION to mark this special month of Mission in Ferbane Church on Thursday 24th October at 8pm.

ARDAGH AND CLONMACNOIS DIOCESAN ASSEMBLY 2020 - Call for submissions
In this parish  we have response boxes for the Assembly in both churches. To date 3 submissions received. We would like to hear from a wider section of people.  Have you views on what are the most important issues facing the church in the coming years and how it should respond? Would you like these views to be considered in the preparation for a diocesan assembly which will take place in Longford on 9th / 10th May 2020. Some 250 delegates - lay people, religious and clergy - representing the diocese of Ardagh and Clonmacnois will gather then to agree on a direction for the diocese for the coming years.   After an initial meeting the delegates throughout the diocese are now engaged in a listening and consultation process in their local areas to identify what the priority issues for the Assembly should be.  The results of this process will be summarised and presented at the next delegate meeting in November. There a decision will be taken on what priority issues will be brought to the Assembly. Interested individuals and groups, whether part of the church or not, are invited to forward submissions. Please tell us what issue you think should be a priority for the Diocesan Assembly and why. Please keep your submission to one page and forward before the 26th of October to assembly@ardaghdiocese.org
TWENTY NINTH SUNDAY OF THE YEAR ‘Pray continually and never lose heart’ Every noble work is at first impossible. Perseverance is of the essence and the ancient Chinese proverb resonates with all: ‘The man who removed the mountain began by removing the small stones.’ We live in an impatient age, an age of instant communication, instant results, instant coffee even! We find it difficult to cope with delays. Yet it is that which grows fast that withers rapidly, while that which grows slowly endures. Perseverance in prayer leads to deepening, and allows us to see into the heart of things, to grasp the bigger picture. It draws us into the mind of God. Prayer is not about the ‘quick-fix’. As Mother Teresa once said: ‘Prayer is not asking. It is putting oneself in the hands of God, and listening to His voice in the depths of our hearts’. It is the key of the morning and the bolt of the evening, but it takes time, patience and perseverance.
