FEAST OF THE BLESSED TRINITY

‘Glóir don Athair agus don Mhac agus don Spiorad Naomh’

Here we are at the heart of the mystery of our God. The human tongue can never speak the final word about God; the human mind can never fully understand the mystery of the Trinity. ‘The man who tries to understand it fully will lose his mind, but the one who would deny the Trinity will lose her soul’. Many people have used images through the ages to help us to ponder the mystery. St. Ignatius of Loyola spoke of three distinct notes being played together to form one harmonious chord. Theologian Frank Sheed used the image of water, which can manifest itself as rain, ice or steam. St. Patrick pointed to the shamrock with its’ three shoots emerging from a single stem. We will never fully understand the arithmetic of heaven, but suffice it to say the following: the Father is the Creator and source of all being; the Son is the face of the Creator; the Spirit is the breath of the Creator. The Father works for us; the Son works among us; the Spirit works within us. When we make the Sign of the Cross, we cut through the doctrine and make real our relationship with the Three Persons. Through that profound gesture, we place ourselves in their gaze. We touch the forehead as we ask the Father to make our thoughts noble; we touch the breast as we ask the Son to make our hearts pure; we touch both shoulders as we ask the Holy Spirit to make the work of our hands fruitful and worthwhile. CREDO CATECHISM COURSE: Are you interested in learning more about the Catholic faith? Do you want to come to a deeper understanding about what the Church teaches and believes and why? Would you like to undertake this journey of religious instruction with others? If so, then you are welcome to join us for ‘CREDO’ - a new, free, online course on the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Organised and run by ‘Companions of the Gospel’ - a Catholic association of the faithful dedicated to the service of the New Evangelisation - CREDO (‘I believe’), begins on Thursday 3rd June at 8pm on Zoom and will be presented by Fr. Owen Gorman OCDS, a Clogher Diocesan priest and Third Order Secular Carmelite. The first part of CREDO will run for an initial eight meetings and will take place on Thursday evenings on a fortnightly basis. CLONMACNOIS PARISH FINANCE  Thank you for your continued support. People have been so kind. Some have kindly given in the form of an annual donation which I attempt to divide up as they would wish. This is because -that while the Offertory envelopes (Yellow) go to Parish, ALSO the 12 Purple ones go to Parish Development, the remaining 6 Yellow/White Envelopes (Dues) only go to form a priests income via our Diocesan Clergy Remuneration Fund. The 5 brown envelopes (Lenten Alms, Peters Pence, Holy Land, Propagation of the Faith are all channeled from each parish onto the Diocesan Office. Hope that clarifies– some had asked.

Church Capacity 15 pews at 2 metre distance (maximum 50 persons)

Funerals: Maximum 50 mourners at service. No other events to take place  Weddings: Maximum 50 guests at service. Maximum 6 guests at indoor reception or 15 outdoors

 Baptisms: The number permitted to attend baptism in the Church is limited to 10. Book for anytime with me please.

 

 CEMETERY MASS I’m waiting on the June 7th announcement by Govt, some optimistic sounds about 100 being allowed outdoors. I note Cloghan/Banagher parish are opting for June Masses in Church for Cemetery Remembrance

LAKELAND LANGUAGE CENTRE - We are looking for Host families to take Spanish Students for the Academic Year, we offer the best rate in the sector and great support conditions through the course. Due to Covid 19 we will be starting from September to December and depending on Covid 19 we hope to continue the academic year. Sacred Heart Novena 2021 (3rd June to 11th June)  “Jesus seeks a Home in our hearts”

How to pray this Novena. Take your time over the words you read. Linger over a word or a phrase. Repeat it aloud or in silence. Let it rest in your mind and heart. Think about its meaning. Share your thoughts and feelings with Jesus. Wait quietly to see what comes into your mind and heart. Don’t worry if nothing seems to be happening. People who know each other well don’t need many words. Blessed John Sullivan tells us that God is delighted to see us, even if we don’t know what to say. God has our best interests at heart. Novena Prayer: Lord Jesus, you have said, “Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you”. I come to you in faith and trust, in love and hope. Let me know your closeness to me and your care for me and for all who are dear to me. My intention for this Novena is dear to me and I know that what is important to me is important to you. Hear my prayer (mention your intention); grant what I ask, and may I always trust that in all that happens in life, you will be close to me as my friend, guide and saviour. And so, Most sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

Loving God I know that you are with me in every moment of my life.  You constantly care for me and walk with me in every step I take.

 

As I prepare for my exams, there are times when

I'm afraid, when I feel alone, when I worry about what lies ahead. In those times help me to remember your love and the love of those around me. Give me the strength to let go of my worries and to trust in you. so that I can face each day with hope and happiness.

As I study, calm my heart that I may feel your peace. Calm my mind that my thoughts may be cleare. Help me to make the most of my time and to work to the  best of my ability.

As I go onto new things in life, guide and direct me that I may be the person you created me to be. Bless me, God, today and tomorrow, and bless my  family and friends. Keep each of us safe and well, now and always. Amen
