NOVENA PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART (June 16th-24th)
Lord Jesus, you have said, ‘Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you’. I come to you in faith and trust, in love and hope. Let me know your closeness to me and your care for me and all who are dear to me. My intention for this Novena is dear to me and I know that what is important to me is important to you. Hear my prayer (mention your intention); grant what I ask, and may I al- ways trust that in all that happens in life, you will be close to me as my friend, guide and saviour. And so, Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

Prayer for the appointment of a new Bishop God, shepherd and guide, in your mercy, give your Church in our diocese a shepherd after your own heart who will walk in your ways, and with loving care watch over your people. Give us a leader of vision and a teacher of your truth. So may your Church be built up and your name glorified,
through Jesus Christ our Lord

er’s Day Prayer Lord, thank you for all fathers. For the new ones, who endure sleepless nights with infants in arms. For the busy ones, who juggle the pressures of home and family life. For the steadfast ones, who nurture and care for our special vulnerable children. For the patient ones, who always seek to forgive and engage with their pre-teens. For the persistent ones, who clev- erly find new ways to connect with their mini- adults. For the father uncles, who step in to cra- dle and care for nieces and nephews. For all granddads, who love and support their precious grandchildren. For the foster dads that are called to gather and cover the fragile ones. For the Sun- day dads who care for our children and lead them in faith. For the dads who give far beyond their own resources, who overcome disability to cher- ish and love. Thank you Lord for all our beautiful fathers. Help us to support them and keep them in our prayers. May you bless them now on this their special day. Amen.

CORPUS CHRISTI
‘I am the living bread which has come down from heaven’ ‘Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the Living Heart of each of our par- ishes’ (St. Paul VI). This is a wonder- filled feast charged with warm memo- ries of colourful processions through streets festooned with papal flags, tri- colours, and all manner of bunting, and lined with little altars, laden with holy pictures, statues and candles in salute to the Sacrament Most Holy. Let us remember with gratitude on this day all those who have preserved this treasure for us through days of persecution and days of prosperity. They have left us a monument more lasting than bronze. Pope Benedict made this appeal to parents on this feast a few years ago: ‘Please go with your children to Church. This is not time lost. Sunday becomes more beautiful, the whole week becomes more beautiful when you go to Sunday Mass together.’ ‘The moment we separate our lives from the Eucharist something breaks’. (Mother Teresa).

The feast of Corpus Christi originated in Belgium in the year 1246 when Robert of Torote, bishop of LiƩge cele- brated it in his diocese. In 1264 Pope Urban IV decreed that the feast be cel- ebrated in the Church worldwide

A PRAYER FOR UKRAINE O Lord, God of life, as you care for all creation, give us your peace. May our secu- rity come not from weapons, but from respect. May our strength come not from violence, but from love. May our own wealth come not from money, but from sharing. May our path be not one of ambition, but of justice. May our victory not be one of revenge, but of forgiveness. Unarmed and confident, help us to defend the dignity of all creation. Sharing today and always the bread of solidarity and peace. Amen.

AD MULTOS ANNOS (literally “for many more years”) is the traditional Latin greeting often extended to priests on their Jubilee. All the more so to our former PP Fr. O’Hanlon on 60years of priesthood, 20 of them in our par- ish. Congratulations to Fr. O’Hanlon and thank you
