July 22nd Mary Magdalene
Except for Mary mother of Jesus, few women are more honoured in the bible than Mary Magdalene. Mary Magdalene was one of the many “who assisted Jesus and the Twelve out of their means” She was one of those who stood by the cross of Jesus with his mother. And, of all the
“official” witnesses that might have been chosen for the first awareness of the Resurrection, she was the one to which the
privilege was given

15th Sunday of the Year

“The sower went out to sow”

St. Matthew’s Gospel is known as the “Teaching Gospel” since it contains more of the words of Jesus than the other three. The Parable of the Sower is a case in point. It is one of seven parables contained in chapter thirteen. It’s  a story from people’s experience. The fertile land of Galilee was divided into long strips with paths or “rights of way” between each strip, and weeds, thorns and rocks were common. The sower in the parable is God. The seed is His Word. The soil is the human heart. Our hearts can be hard, shallow, crowded or fruitful and we alone can determine what kind of soil our hearts will be. If our hearts and minds are open and attentive, the Word of God can penetrate and take root in us and enable us to view life through His eyes. Then, our kind of loving becomes His kind of loving and we in turn become become sowers of the seed. The sower, of course, must be patient. The acorn grows slowly into an oak, but grow it will. Likewise, with regard to the little seeds we sow along the way, nothing is wasted. We never can tell where our influence stops. We pray for open hearts and patient sowing.

Ears to listen…
God gave us one mouth and two ears for a reason! “Listen, anyone who has ears!”
The Word is seed! The Word is what creation eagerly awaits! The Word is hope!
The Word is freedom! The Word gives birth!
God desires to sow the Word in our hearts!
Attend to your heart, your hardness, your shallowness, your thorns. Dig deep, give time, open the soil of your life, that the Word may produce its crop, a hundredfold, sixtyfold, thirtyfold!
“Listen, anyone who has ears!”

CEMETERY MASS July 29th 2023 @ 7pm

As we prepare for Cemetery Sunday on July 29th , I thank you for the care and reverence with which you respect this Sacred Place of your family memories. Please bring away all discarded items. Think about it, how would you like it if someone tipped items in on your property? It’s basic decency & consideration. If there is a grave close to your own and with no family around, you might tend to it in their name. Thank you. (Fr. Tom )

 THE WISDOM OF THE WISE

- “Formal education will make you a living; self-education will make you a fortune.” -Jim Rohn

-“It’s not that I’m so smart, it’s just that I stay with problems longer.” - Albert Einstein

-“Study is the bane of childhood, the oil of youth, the indulgence of adulthood, and a restorative in old age.” -Walter Savage Landor

-“You may never know what results come of your action, but if you do nothing there will be no result.” - Mahatma Gandhi.

-“Study without thought is vain: thought without study is dangerous.” -Confucius

-Tough times never last, but tough people do.” - Robert Schuller

-“Few minds wear out; most rust away.” - Christian Bovee.

For Those who are Troubled
God of the troubled, I am afraid again and look to you. Calm me and bring peace to
this disturbed spirit. Quiet me. Still my turbulence as you quell the storm at sea. Help me to know you are closest when I am most worried. Protect me from harm. Let these troubles pass.
Wake me up to the reality of your constant love for me. I place myself in your presence and your care. I hand you all my troubles for a while. Be my peace, O God,
my peace. God of the troubled, I am afraid and look to you again.
Thought of the Day
Joy and happiness are two different things, although they are obviously related. There are things in our lives we feel happy
doing or experiencing. Watching a good movie makes us feel happy for the time we’re watching it. Happiness is very much in the moment, and it can be good. But joy is a different thing. Joy is a deeper sense than happiness. We feel happy watching a
film, but feel joy when we see a good friend who we haven’t seen for awhile. Joy is different. To live lives of joy is not to
depend on happiness or temporary experiences. It is to seek out the better path and walk it.
