WE LIVE IN VERY INTERESTING

 AND FUNNY TIMES:

-We live in times where we see many humans, but not humanity.

-We live in times where the rich has more rooms than children and the poor has more children than rooms.

-We live in times where smart phones bring you closer to those who are far, but distance you from those who are closer.

-We live in times where we open Facebook, more than The Holy Book;

-We live in times where a single mother can look after 10 children, but children can't look after a single mother;

-We live in times where the rich walk miles to digest food, while the poor walk miles to search for food;

-We live in times where women are paid to be naked, while others have no clothes to cover their nakedness.

-We live in times where our contact lists are huge, but our relationships are poor.

-We live in times where our possessions are more, but our appreciation is less;

-We live in times where we know how to earn a good living, but somehow forget how to live a good life;

-We live in times where many know the price of everything, but not the value of anything. Indeed, we live in a strange world. May God help and Guide Us.

ROSARY FOR MAY AT CLONFANLOUGH Grotto Starting Monday 6th May at 6:30pm and subsequent Mondays

Prayer for Strength Jesus, captain of my life, may your strength arise. Deep to deep my heart will soar with you on grace filled skies. Jesus, captain of my mind, may your hope take flight. Wing to wing my faith will fly with you on promise bright. Jesus, captain of my soul, may your love abide. Heart to heart you cherish me, with you I come alive. Amen

I Said a Prayer for You Today And know God must have heard. I felt the answer in my heart, although he spoke no word. I didn’t ask for wealth or fame (I knew you wouldn’t mind). I asked him to send treasures of a far more lasting kind! I asked that he be near you, at the start of each new day: To grant you health and blessings and friends to share your way! I asked for happiness for you, in all things great and small. But it was for his loving care, I prayed for most of all! Amen

TRIBUTES PAID TO RELIGIOUS ORDERS ARCHBISHOP Dermot Farrell of Dublin paid tribute to the role of religious orders in Irish education as a Catholic school in his diocese was this week divested to secular patronage. St Mary’s Primary School on Dorset Street was one of the 29 schools in Dublin involved in a consultation process on patronage in 2022. Catholic patrons account for 88 per cent of all of the 3,000 primary schools in Ireland, of which only 150 are multidenominational, but the government has pledged to divest 400 primary schools from Catholic patrons by 2030. However, opposition among parents' groups and a lack of trust has stalled the process. A report last year into a failed attempt at divestment in the Dublin suburb of Raheny said the process was marred by “suspicions and lack of trust from an early stage”.

May the Month of Mary

On Wednesday 1st May we celebrate the feast of St. Joseph the worker. May is the month of Mary. An opportunity for a May Altar in your home or class room and also an opportunity to pray the Rosary. We encourage you to pray the Rosary, (even one decade), particularly during May

Bring Flowers of the Rarest

Bring flowers of the rarest bring blossoms the fairest, from gardens and woodlands and hillside and dale; Our full hearts are swelling, our glad voices telling the praise of the loveliest flower of the vale! Chorus: O Mary we crown thee with blossoms today! Queen of the Angels and Queen of the May. O Mary we crown thee with blossoms today, Queen of the Angels and Queen of the May

May is a very special month for us as we remember Mary, the Mother of Jesus and Mother of us all. A full month is given over to Mary and during this month we are asked to think about Mary, say special prayers to her, have May altars, and sing hymns to Mary to tell her how much we love her and to ask her to help us stay close to her son Jesus and to try to live as Jesus shows us. Creating a May Altar: Small stand/table Statue or image of Mary Gold/blue cloth Flowers or greenery Rosary Beads Candle (battery) Stones (rockery) Cross • A May Altar is a point of focus for prayer. It is a sacred space. • It is a centre for reflection, it helps point to the sacred space within each person. • It helps us to become still to allow God to speak to us in the quiet of our hearts. • A simple Sacred Space can be placed somewhere in the house during the month of May and used as a gathering place for prayer. A May Altar can be created and placed in the garden. • Set aside a little time every day to pray, either alone or with other members of your family • Encourage young children to draw a picture of Mary and place it on the altar

MARCH FOR LIFE May 6th 2024 at 2 pm in Dublin. A massive turnout at the March for Life on May 6th will send a very strong message to voters about the importance of voting pro-life on Election Day. Tragically, all the indications suggest the soon to be published abortion figures for 2023 will exceed 10,000. Please make an extra special effort to attend this year’s march which is timed perfectly to coincide with the upcoming elections. REGINA COELI is said in place of the Angelus during the 50 days of Easter which ends on Pentecost Sunday. Queen of Heaven, Rejoice, Alleluia. For He whom thou did merit to bear, Alleluia. Has risen as He said, Alleluia. Pray for us to God, Alleluia. Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, Alleluia. For the Lord has truly risen, Alleluia. Let us pray: O God, who gave joy to the world through the Resurrection of Thy Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, grant we beseech Thee, that through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, His mother, we may obtain the joys of everlasting life, through the same Christ, Our Lord. Amen
