Shannonbridge Fishing Report …Dated 12th June 2007.

News that the local power plant has closed for some six weeks to carry out repairs

Means that there will be no hot water flowing.

The level of the River Shannon at the marker board near the village bridge is 2.24 metres.

- Mike and Chris Compton from Cheltenham fished the River Brosna and the Hot Water

for a week catching roach and hybrids using maggot and corn. Average bags of about ten pounds with a best bag of 15 lbs.

- Uwe Suchland from Berlin fished with a wobbler in the sunshine on June 8th and caught

a pike of 54 Cm.

Matthias Kramm from Berlin also fished the Shannon and recorded catching a pike of 51 Cm

on 8th June 2007.

Rudiger Frost from Germany used a wobbler when fishing the Shannon on 8th June.

He caught eight pike to 65 Cm.

- Andy Prout from Hull fished on the Shannon for week ending 8th June.

He caught 15 pike using plug baits and advises to fish the sides.

- Shaun Prout used a purple / silver lure to catch 10 perch at the power plant.

- Keith Boulter from Reading fished the Shannon on 8th June using red maggot and

a feeder to catch 15 lbs of fair roach and hybrids. Best early morn and evening.

- Barrie Sayers from Crawley fished on the River Suck on 8th June in sunshine.

Using red maggot and feeder he had a 5 lb tench in a 30 lbs bag of nice tench

and hybrids. Found it fished all day close in.

-Gary Smith of Ballyduff, Shannonbridge fished the Hot Water on 25th May in sunshine.

Using red maggot he caught 12 bream to 4 lb, and 6 tench to 5.75 lbs. Average bream 2.5 lbs.

Garry also fished the Hot Water on 1st June and caught 12 tench from 3 lb to 5.75 lbs.

On 3rd June Gary fished the Hot Water using a dead roach and caught two pike in the 12 lbs range

and loads of small pike. No tench was his comment.

- Andrew Braddox from Sheffield fished on the Shannon on 11th June on a good day.

Using a feeder he caught a 27 lbs bag of mostly hybrids, some to 2 lbs.

Dennis Long from Sheffield also fished the Shannon on 11th June and used a feeder

And whip to catch 16 lbs of roach. Best one weighed 1.5 lbs.

- Charlie Russell from Sheffield fished the Shannon on 11th June and used a waggler

to catch 17 lbs of roach. Best fish weighed 1.75 lbs.

- Kevin O Hair from Sheffield fished with his pals and used pole and red maggot

to catch 10 lbs of roach. All four found that the swims fished better on the second day.

- Kathleen Feeley from Biggleswade fished the Shannon on 11th June on a very hot day.

Using 3 red maggot / corn the 13 year old had some decent sized rudd up to 10 Ozs.

- The local anglers were fishing in the evenings to dark and catching good roach over the pound

and hybrids in the 2 lb to 3 lb range.
