Shannonbridge Fishing Report .. Dated 18th June 2007.

River level varied slightly during the week due to rain.

On Friday it read 2.34 at the village bridge. This evening it was 2.3 Metres.

Variety of weather mostly fine with showers and drizzle at times.

No hot water flowing at the power plant.

Local angler Brendan Kenny from Clonburren fished the River Shannon

on 10th June for three hours using a Voblex lure and caught 15 medium sized pike.

Weighing from 5 to 7 lbs each.

Frank Flood from Dublin fished from the marina at Shannonbridge on 16th June

and caught 26 mixed perch, bream and roach in two hours using maggot.

Nine year old Alia McGurrin from Howth caught her first freshwater fish

on a damp 16th June using a spoonbait. It was a fine 30” pike which she

returned alive.

Peter Henry from Willowmere Fishers and friends caught 18 pike to 10 lbs

and eight good perch on 16th June. They used plug, spoon and jerk baits.

Blue baits worked well for them.

Louise Killeen Shannonbridge fished the Shannon on 10th June in the evening.

Using maggot and sweetcorn she caught 15 lbs of skimmers and hybrids in three hours.

Paul Airey Ahascragh fished at the Hot Water Stretch on 17th June on a fine day

and using maggot and sweetcorn with a feeder caught 40 fish – 38 good hybrids

and two perch.

Mrs Cynthia Airey also fished for a short time and caught two hybrids. Too slow was her

comment.

Allen Harrison from Golborne, Warrington fished on the canal on a fine 17th June.

Using maggot and float he caught 10 hybrids.

Joan Foster from Golborne also fished the canal alongside and caught 10 hybrids

To 2.5 lbs. During the fishing twelve large canal boats passed and helped clear the

Rubbish and weed.

Mike Bradley from Walsall fished at Shannonbridge on 17th June and used red maggot

to catch 42 fish, roach, rudd and perch. Pike taking his fish.

Trevor Bamford from Kinsale fished the Grand Canal on a fair 18th June. Using sweetcorn

and red maggot he had great fishing catching mainly tench and hybrids.
